GenTech is a fast growing network built to connect aged care providers with the technology companies solving the sector's biggest challenges. From workforce management and compliance to resident engagement and clinical operations, GenTech brings together the people and platforms shaping the future of care in Australia and beyond.
Founded by Jimmy Leishman and Devon Passmore in 2025, GenTech was born from a simple observation: the aged care sector is full of brilliant technology companies doing important work, but providers often have no clear way to find, compare, or connect with them. At the same time, founders building in this space were doing it in isolation, without a community of peers who understood the unique challenges of accessing and supporting aged care.
Australian aged care is undergoing its biggest transformation in a generation. New legislation, strengthened quality standards, tighter funding models, and a workforce under immense pressure are forcing providers to rethink how they operate. Technology is no longer optional. It is central to how providers will meet compliance obligations, attract and retain staff, and deliver better outcomes for residents.
But the market is fragmented. Providers are overwhelmed by choice without clarity. CareTech Founders are building great products but struggling to reach decision-makers. GenTech exists to bridge that gap.
GenTech operates as a curated network of CareTech companies serving the Australian aged care sector. Members include founders, entrepreneurs and leaders from companies working across workforce technology, compliance and governance, resident engagement, clinical systems, training platforms, recruitment, and operational intelligence.
The network provides:
Visibility for CareTech companies - A dedicated platform where providers can discover, learn and connect with the technology solutions most relevant to their needs.
Community for founders - A peer group of people who understand what it takes to build and scale technology in aged care. From shared challenges to warm introductions, GenTech gives founders a network they can rely on.
Content and insight - Articles, guides, and research that help Aged Care leaders make informed decisions about technology adoption, written by people who know the sector inside and out.
Connection to providers - Direct pathways between technology companies and aged care leaders, cutting through the noise of traditional marketing and cold outreach.
Jimmy Leishman is the Co-founder and CEO of TeaTime, a social platform strengthening connection between people, families, and communities in care. With a background spanning frontline service as a firefighter, health and nutrition, and technology leadership, Jimmy brings a deeply human lens to everything he builds. His belief is simple: no one should grow older feeling forgotten.
Devon Passmore is the Director of Product and Development at Ethyx. Devon leads product management, client development, and commercial strategy for Ethyx, bringing behavioural science into the real world of aged care operations. His focus is on closing the gap between good intentions and good information.
Together, Jimmy and Devon saw an opportunity to build something the care sector was missing: a single place where providers could find the right technology partners, where founders could find each other and where CareTech could truly thrive.
GenTech launched with the following original core members:
GenTech serves two audiences. For aged care providers, it is a discovery platform. A place to find technology partners who understand your challenges, have proven their solutions in the sector, and are ready to help. For CareTech founders and companies, it is a network. A community of peers, a content platform, and a direct channel to the providers who need what you have built.
GenTech exists to be the global engine of CareTech Innovation - Uniting powerful innovations, founders, and providers to shape the future of ageing - for generations to come.
